On March 14, 2016 some students went to go see a play at The Heartwood Center. The play was called The Secret Life of Bees. It’s about a 14 year old girl named Lily Melissa Owens who lives with her abusive and neglectful dad. She believes that she shot and killed her mother when she was four years old. In a search to learn more about her mother’s history, clues lead her to the Boatright residence. Once there, she learns about her mother and about herself. Afterwards, a guy from the play came back to the LPO and had a workshop. The workshop consisted of a couple group activities. One of the activities included students writing on white boards about struggles that people go through daily.
