Animal Farm

Bret’s freshman class is reading the book “Animal farm” by George Orwell. Here are some words from Bret. “Always relevant, even more so in an election year, my freshman class is reading George Orwell’s Animal Farm. A political allegory of the Russian Revolution, as well as a critique of totalitarianism, Animal Farm shows the power of language, its nuance and amenability. As Edward Bulwer-Lytton once stated, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” Whether used to construct narrative, wielded indiscriminately in a presidential debate or flippantly on social media, students need to recognize and revere the power of words.”
