First Day of Class Initiatives
September 25, 2015
Luke’s classes had fun playing with mouse traps during the first day of instruction this year. Teachers were challenged to come up with activities which would help to establish a positive culture within the classroom. The mouse traps were tied to the idea of identifying worries in our lives and how to deal with them. The exercises also were related to trusting yourself and your abilities and trust in your peers. As an added bonus, it was fun to play with mouse traps!
In both of Luke’s classes, Senior Seminar and Real Life, there are elements throughout which deal with trust and pushing yourself to try new things. Stepping out of our comfort zone can seem scary and dangerous at first glance, but the more we try things the more comfortable we become with them. Moving past personal fears is very powerful and the students in these exercises did very well. And no, no one lost any fingers.
